Through the Admin Portal you can check any client that is or has been connected to the SmartVis Face Server. The clients include
Identifier and remote monitoring service
iOS or Android phone running SmartVis Face App
Web-Portals, i.e. User or Admin
Alarm Service
EdgeVis Body Worn Devices
To look at the client list first sign into the Admin Portal as a Domain Adminstrator. You then click on the Devices menu item. A list will be presented that show the devices that are or have recently been connected to the SmartVis Face Server. An example screen shot is shown below. In this example, you can see that a range of different clients have connected to the SmartVis Face Server.
The Device Name is a friendly name given to the connected client. Currently, this is only used by connected Identifier clients and can be set in the Identifier configuration or by default is the hostname of the PC hosting Identifier. The Device # is automatically set by the client and is a unique-id given to that client. In the case of the web-portals this is the IP address used to connect to the SmartVis Face Server.
The different Client types are
Identifier v1.1.1 A version of Identifier that is being run as a service and in non-UI mode. Typically, this is the Linux version of Identifier.
Identifier v1.1.1 UI A version of Identifier that is being run as a service in UI mode. Typically, this is the Windows version of Identifier.
Monitoring A monitoring service, which monitors the health of an attached Identifier. Only Linux Identifiers are supported at the moment.
SmartVis Mobile A mobile phobe client of SmartVis Face.
Body Worn Client A body worn device that has connected to SmartVis Face Server and requested a face-recognition
SmartVis EdgeAI Service This is typically access via a web-portal. In this case the Device # is the IP address of the device that has connected.
The Activity is the time the client last connected to the server. By default the whole list is ordered by the time of last Activity, with the most recent being first.
If you click on the value in Device Name or Device # of a client, you will be taken to a new screen which can show more information about that client. For example, clicking on the device augie brings you to a web-page about the Identifier client that is connected. An example screen is below.
On this page you can get a detailed view of the current status of the attached Identifier node. For example you can see
Updated The last time the monitoring service sent data to SmartVis Face Server
Message The last message sent from the monitoring service. In most cases this should should say "Ok!". If Identifier is not running on the box, or is an error state then it will say "Identifier service is not running!".
Errno An error number, can be useful to help identify any problems.
Pending Sightings How many sightings are on Identifier that have not been synchronised to the server. Typically this should be zero. If it is more than zero then this can indicate that the connection between Identifier and SmartVis Face Server has been lost.
Last Sighting What was the time of the last sighting on the Identifier node.
Watchlist Size How many subjects are in the watchlist on the Identifier node
Number Descriptions How many descriptions on the Identifier have been synchronised, with the server e.g. 5 out of 5. This statistic can be useful when an Identifier node is first connected to SmartVis Face Server as the whole watchlist needs to be synchronised which can take several hours. This statistic provides an update on this process.
Total CPU Load How busy the CPU is on the Identifier node. This is measured in percentage. In normal operation we would expect this to be in the range of 20% to 90%. If it is outside this range then there could be a problem with the Identifier instance. Note, this statistics will also include other processes that are running on the machine.
Total Memory Usage How much RAM, as a percentage, is currently being used on the Identifier node. Note, this includes the memory taken by all the processes running on the Identifier node.
Disk Usage How much disk space, as a percentage, is currently being used on the Identifier node. If this number gets high (i.e. above 90%) then action needs to be taken to create more disk space.
Last Watchlist Sync The last time the Identifier node requested an update on the watchlists from the server.
Refresh every How often the Identifier node requests a refresh from the the SmartVis Face Server.
Notes and limitations,
The Linux version of Identifier is currently the only client that has a monitoring service. The Monitor table will be blank for all other devices.
The Body Worn Client only displays the last access time of the Body Worn client.
